The new Sony Reader PRS-700 and the Amazon Kindle 2 are this year's most talked about electronic book readers, offering a greater amount of pleasure reading. For those unfamiliar reading devices of the latest e-books and are interested in buying one, let us compare the Amazon Kindle 2 and Sony Reader see how they compare.
Pricing in the case of any gadget is always an important factor, especially for those who are the buyers of first time. Today, Amazon's Kindle 2 at a price of $ 259, but Sony Reader is priced at almost double the $ 399, which means that the Kindle 2 is smaller and has price better value.
When it comes to these Google Gadgets on their size and weight of the comparisons do not really give them an advantage over another. While the Sony Reader PRS-700 weighs 10 oz, Amazon Kindle 2 is a little heavier. While the Sony Reader is wider and thicker, the Kindle is a few inches long. Either way, the two are at a greater comfort when you have to carry.
Both e-book readers use the new electronic ink technology which means that their screens are as near as normal text in the paper as it technically can have at this time, making it easier to read because the technology can display sharp text and images. Although Amazon Kindle 2 is able to produce 16 different shades of gray, and Sony Reader only capable of 8, this makes a lot of Amazon Kindle 2 sharper.
In the area of wireless technology, Amazon Kindle 2 is the clear winner. Using technology Whispernet, Amazon Kindle 2 can receive Free wireless coverage. Kindle owners also have access to a collection of over 350,000 books, newspapers, magazines and even blogs! You simply choose the reading content of their choice, pay for it, and you can download the magazine or book to your Kindle when you want, anywhere, in minutes! On the other hand the Sony Reader PRS-700, completely lacks any wireless capabilities, and only has access to a collection of 100,000 titles, not even compared to the amount available for Kindle users.
Both readers can read most common formats like TXT, JPEG, GIF, MP3, GIF, BMP and PNG not to mention other formats that are unique to each device. While Sony Reader can read PDF's, while Amazon Kindle 2 can not – not directly anyway. PDF is sent to the table Kindle support for the conversion, then you can read on the Kindle, though Amazon warns that "complex PDF files might incorrectly formatted" on the Kindle.
Now, memory options, Sony Reader has a clear advantage. Although Amazon Kindle 2 offers 2 GB of internal memory, which is only accessible to 1.4GB content storage, which can hold about 1,500 books, though not support the use of more external memory cards. However, while Sony Reader only provides 256 MB of memory on board, its advantage lies in the fact that Sony Reader is capable of supporting 16 GB through the use of an external memory card. Not only is that good benefit for tons of content available to you when you need it, but is also good for managing files on memory cards.
When it is the battery life, both readers of equivalent operating hours. On a full charge, both the Kindle 2 and the Sony Reader can handle two weeks of reading without the need to charge. The charging time is also equivalent to two readers, 4 hours when charging via USB and 2 hours when plugged to charger AC.
The bottom line when it comes to readers of eBooks, 2009, the Amazon Kindle 2 and Sony eBook Reader is:
That the Amazon Kindle 2 is the best ebook reader both hands down. Its price, wireless, content, and overall improvements in the design makes the Amazon Kindle 2, the clear winner as best brands of Sony Reader's 700.
