Google began taking part in the battle of the browsers in early 2008 for the release of its browser, Google Chrome. The initial version was only directed users of Microsoft Windows. However, during December 2009, Google released an official beta version for Mac OSX and Linux operating systems.
Chrome has shown that can fight with the existing giants. Within a relatively short period of time, it has surpassed the market share of Safari and Opera. Currently holds a significant share of 4.26% and in third place. Internet Explorer still has the majority share of 63.6%, while Firefox has gained 24.7%.
Until moment there is a positive outlook for chromium. Many of the current Safari users have reported that as the best response time using the browser. Also the browser developed with user experience in mind, therefore, has a very limited number of buttons and menu items. This gives the user a larger viewing area.
Turning a negative side, the browser is still in beta for Mac and Linux. Some users have noticed the lack of control with their markers, a reason not to make the change immediately. Most intelligent technology to users who are accustomed to living with custom plug-ins with Firefox too at some point will switch to the new. While Chrome has extensions is not yet mature.
In conclusion, Chrome has shown promising results so far. It continues to increase market share in 2010, because it improves the stability and overall user experience across all platforms.
