Users of Amazon Kindle, can you help me with some answers?
Hello I am interested in Amazon Kindle, but before buying one, I have a few questions. Forgive me if my question is silly, but I'm not sure how this works. Any advice is welcome. – Do I have to buy books every time I read one? And also through Amazon alone? – Is there a way to download books for free? – Can I borrow / lend some from / to a different user? – Is it possible download and share a book with multiple users with Kindle (my family in this case)? – Can I resell a "used" copy? – Can I transfer a copy in a CD?
I do not own a Kindle, but have been seriouslyl buy one given what I've done plenty of research. The books are protected by DRM. You may not resell, you can not send another turn on sharing, and the only way anyone borrow your book is to provide them with their Kindle. I know that Amazon will allow certain text files placed on the Kindle, but you have to email them the files and they charge a very small amount to put in a file the Kindle can read. Basically anything you buy for the Kindle is glued to your Kindle. No copies or transfers are allowed. Gotta love DRM …
