A silent murderer of modern operating systems is the set of programs and services (a special type of program) that starts working when it starts silently the computer. At the time that can come to your desk after you start your computer, could be 20 programs and 20 more services that run – No wonder your computer is slow! This is a very simple concept: The more programs running, the slower the program you are interested in will run. This is one of the Simple Secrets to avoid problems with your computer and avoid a broken computer.
Today, first take a look at the programs running when your computer starts. The meat of this discussion will focus on Windows, but there are similar tools on other operating systems. For example, Ubuntu Linux, navigate to System / Preferences / Applications Start.
Back to the Windows world. Microsoft hides a very useful list of these startup programs in a program called msconfig. Once the utility is open, these programs can be found in the Home tab. In reaching that tab, such programs can be removed from the list of programs that start at boot time, simply deselecting the check box! That's the easy part.
How do you know they are safe to disable? Use a database BleepingComputer like – open that website and type the name (to the left column, next to the checkbox) the program appears on the Startups tab of msconfig and if the Status column, but she has a "Y", then they can be safely selected. Additional tracks can be found by simply searching the name of the program Google, and search the folder is installed in msconfig.
Often, the programs are configured to start so that its "environment" is ready when you want the application. As an example, Adobe Reader includes a program for the sole purpose of helping the Adobe Reader to start faster (reader_sl.exe) but consumes resources on your computer! Ultimately, it is recommended to replace Adobe Reader, as it is completely bloated and slow, but more on that later, uncheck reader_sl.exe entry in msconfig! Look for the track work on the operating system services.
