The Sony Reader 700 is the highly anticipated next generation of Sony's lineup. It is actually a great improvement over the model 500, though not so much from the model 505. Still, the ability of the touch screen can only do this, the e-book reader who heads his list.
Most people are very curious about the touchscreen on this device. Early studies show that it is a great addition! It seems so intuitive that an electronic book reader should provide this functionality. Instead of dealing with navigation buttons, just play what you want. This should simplify your experience of reading electronic books enormously.
The only problem here is that Sony has added touchscreen layer on top of your e-ink display layer. This means some contrast and the "real book" feel that is remarkable in the PRS505 and Amazon Kindle missing in this version. However, that does not mean that the books are completely unreadable, it's only a matter of getting used to it if you've enjoyed other types of display. It should be noted that some people are more in favor screen 505, and choosing the model on it for that reason.
Another addition to this reader is the backlit display. This is a great improvement for people who have been lamenting the fact that previous readers from Sony and Amazon's Kindle book require a light if you want to read in the dark. There are some changes in other things that the screen too. For example, you can enjoy a processor fast. This will make it easier for you to browse the pages and navigate the reader. Some users will not notice a big difference, but if you are using the reader is constantly improving for you.

Other features you expect to be in the popular Sony Reader are present in this model. You can still highlight, branded pages, and easily navigate through their options as the earlier models that has known and loved. Improvements in this model might be sufficient to achieve the transition to this version.
If you need a touch screen, backlight, a faster processor and more memory, the Sony Reader PRS700 is right for you. However, if contrast of the screen is your main concern you might want to keep the PRS505. Either way, you can not go wrong when you get a device from the line Sony Reader.
