If you’re in the market for a new TV, maybe to update an existing TV of inferior quality or just to spoil yourself, then chances are you’re thinking of what kind of TV you should buy. You’re probably thinking seriously about a brand new LCD TV, and maybe just need a little more information to help you make up your mind.
LCD TV’s certainly do have advantages over the previous CRT TV, the quality of picture and sound, for a start, is miles ahead. When you actually watch an LCD television screen for the first time the clarity of the picture is pretty amazing and difficult to believe. The term LCD is actually an acronym for liquid crystal display, each LCD TV screen has thousands of pixels lit from a fluorescent light which create an electric signal to determine exact shades and colors when it comes into contact with the screen. This is how the superior picture quality is produced.
Apart from picture quality, another advantage of LCD TV is that because they are very thin and light they are suitable for wall mounting. This is particularly useful for where space is limited, as some conventional television sets are very cumbersome and take up lots of precious space. They come in various screen sizes, from smaller sizes (around 15″) right up to 60″ or more – of course, for such a screen size you would need to have a very large room in order to be able to watch comfortably. The larger screens, however, are brilliant for watching the latest High Definition DVD’s and Blue-Ray discs.
A lot of thought has gone into the style and design of the modern LCD TV, and it is important to find something that suits the rest of your home. The many options available make it definite that there will be something perfect for every room.
A good idea is to search the internet for advice on TV Buying Guides, and try to read reviews that other consumers have written, after all, they are the ones who have done the real tests and are in a position to advise on both the good and the bad points of each model. Although your purchase will be widely determined by budget, it is important not just to buy the cheapest option available, or assume that because a particular model is very expensive, it is better, it is not always the case.
